Some exciting news from Leicester Operatic Players (LOPS). They've announced their 2025 show Everybody's Talking About Jamie and plan on holding open auditions. See their press release shared on social media below.

Open auditions for our 2025 show ‘Everybody’s talking about Jamie’ will take place on Sunday 1st September at St Andrews Methodist Church, Glenfield Road East.

*Please note we can only accept members aged 17 and over (or in college or sixth form).

We encourage performers of all backgrounds, sexualities and identities to audition!

Parking:

There is a car park outside the church but limited spaces so be sure to get there on time for a space. However, there is plenty off street parking.

For those unfamiliar, this hit musical is based on the real-life story of a teenager from Sheffield, Jamie Campbell, who at the age of 16 dreamed of becoming a drag queen and wearing a dress to his school prom, only to face prejudice from his teachers and his peers. It was the 2011 documentary Jamie: Drag Queen at 16 which inspired this musical; in this dramatized version we follow Jamie New, his mum Margaret and their family friend Ray who conspire to make Jamie’s dreams a reality.

Jamie New is sixteen and lives on a council estate in Sheffield. He doesn’t quite fit in. Jamie is terrified about the future. Jamie is going to be a sensation. Supported by his brilliant loving mum and surrounded by his friends, Jamie overcomes prejudice, beats the bullies, and steps out of the darkness, into the spotlight. This funny, outrageous and touching musical sensation is to be experienced by all the family and not to be missed! This sparkling coming of age musical will have everybody talking about Jamie for years to come.
